Creative Mentoring & Coaching
Creative methods in practice, Summer 2021
I offer mentoring and coaching for artists, students, cultural practitioners and professionals working across the creative and cultural industries – whether you're developing a specific project, navigating a career transition, or seeking longer-term support in your practice.
As an artist and mentor with Arab and European heritage, I understand how creative growth is often interwoven with questions of identity, belonging, and cultural expression. I particularly welcome those who are looking for someone who understands what it means to be located within multiple cultural worlds while building a creative and meaningful life.
I’m also very aware that many of us are building mosaic careers or practices – weaving together different roles, disciplines, and income streams. I can support you to find clarity and cohesion across your work.
My approach is especially suited to those working in or around dance, theatre, performance, visual arts, archiving, museums, writing, music, skateboarding, or interdisciplinary contexts – including those in producing, marketing, administration or management roles who may not identify as 'creatives' but are deeply involved in shaping cultural work. I work particularly well with people who engage with the world through embodied, sensory, and critical means. I draw on over 15 years of experience mentoring creative practitioners and researchers within and beyond Higher Education, alongside a long-standing movement and performance practice of my own.
Depending on your needs and interests, our sessions might involve:
Conversational coaching in person or online, grounded in leadership theory, personal development, and creative methodologies
Somatic and embodied work in the studio, using movement and reflective practice to open up new ways of thinking and creating
Project-focused guidance, helping you clarify direction, work through blocks, or build confidence in your artistic voice
Some people come to mentoring with a clear goal. Others arrive with uncertainty, needing space to ask questions, make sense of change, or reimagine their practice. All are welcome.
Here’s how one recent mentee described their experience:
“I was looking for someone… to support me in growing my own artistic practice. I felt listened to, supported – my ideas were validated and Dani helped me build on them and believe in myself.”
“The movement exercises we did were such a refreshing way to involve both my body and mind in my creativity”
“I learned a lot about how to be gentle with myself, while still pushing myself. When I thought I was ‘lazy’ or not good enough, I learned that we as humans have cycles just like nature.”
I work primarily from Manchester, UK, and can meet in person (either in my studio or another suitable space) or online via video conferencing.
Fees & Access
I want this offer to be accessible and grounded in trust. My fees are flexible depending on your situation. I sometimes work on a sliding scale or through project-based agreements.
